WILL HAIR EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL HAIR?

If your hair is NOT applied by a qualified and trained technician then damage can occur, also maintenance and accuratly followed aftercare after your hair is applied is an important part of the process. Your technician will explain the vital aftercare regime you should practice untill your next appointment.

Bare in mind when the extensions are removed you will have a little hair loss although this is not caused by the extensions, your hair sheds between 50 and 100 hairs naturally on a daily basis, if you have your extensions in for 8 to 12 weeks thats upto 5600 to 8400 hairs you would have naturally shed in the regrowth pariod, but since the extensions are in place the naturally shedded hair will drop at a much slower pace so the majority of your shedded hair will remain in the bond untill the extension is removed.

HOW LONG SHOULD MY HAIR EXTENSIONS LAST?

This depends on the method used and the hair applied, some extensions will last around 3 months then removed and can be re-fitted, some have to be removed after this time and a new set applied, it all depends on how they were applied and the aftercare and maintenance given, it is very important to give your extensions that little bit of extra care needed, remember the hair is not growing from your scalp so doesnt get the all important natural oils and minerals your own hair recieves, so regular moisturisation is very important in the aftercare stages, but not to worry we will provide you with detailed aftercare advice forms during consultation and fitting.

HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY EXTENSIONS?

You can treat them as you would your own hair, you can swim, colour, wash, curl straighten etc, although there are different methods of blowdrying with different bonds, when washing make sure the hair is brushed before, and combed through when conditioner is applied, also make sure not to brush harshly always comb or brush from the bottom upwards using a wide tooth comb or a soft bristle brush, always wash and condition hair after being in swimming pools or in the ocean as the salt and clorine can cause hair to dry out.

Try not to apply conditioner or oils directly on the bonds as this can cause slipage in rings or loosen the bonds, using oil free shampoo and conditioner is best for bonds or rings or specially medicated hair extension shampoo and conditioner.
